Scientific Games enhances relationship with South Carolina Education Lottery via new six-year contract

Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS), which has produced all of South Carolina Education Lottery’s games since 2002, has now revealed a new six-year contract from the Lottery for its Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership (SGEP), a performance-driven program to see it “responsibly drive maximum profits for educational programs” in the southeastern U.S. state.

According to the Lottery, which is best known for Powerball, the Las Vegas-based company was chosen after a “competitive procurement” as the best suited to help realize its goals.

Possible extension:

Under the terms of the new six-year contract, the company will manage fully the Lottery‘s diverse instant games portfolio. Additionally, the contract, which includes warehousing, distribution, a lottery mobile app and other services to be provided by Scientific Games to the Lottery, may be extended for another year.

Executive Director for the South Carolina Education Lottery, Hogan Brown, said in an official press release (pdf)…

“We have accomplished great results over the past 18 years, working with Scientific Games as our primary instant games provider to offer enjoyable game entertainment for South Carolina players while providing vital support for state educational programs.

“Continuing the SGEP program, a partnership proven highly successful, will strengthen our ability to responsibly optimize revenue for education in South Carolina.”

Also commenting on the new contract, Senior Vice President, Lottery Instant Products for Scientific Games, John Schulz, added…

“Beginning and ending with analytics and insights, our SGEP program encompasses every aspect of the Lottery’s instant products – from game design through retail execution.”

For the past five years, Scientific Games has helped the South Carolina Education Lottery boost the sales of its instant games by 10.6 percent, with is the biggest five-year annual growth rate of any of the 10 top instant game lotteries across the globe, according to La Fleur’s Almanac, FY2019 per capita sales.

The Southern state’s Lottery also boasts the best-performing $10 instant game portfolio in the United States, which features over 20 games per year.
